Tutorial: Wool Dryer Balls

A tutorial. Finally. I feel as if I have been away from Blogland for a very long time but really it has only been a week.

Today we are going to learn how to make wool dryer balls! If you haven't heard of these they are amazing! They literally make your clothes dry in about 10-20 minutes! So for five dollars we will save hundreds in electricity.

I used one skein of Northampton Sport Wool which was around $5!

And a ripped pair of panty hose which I'm sure everyone has!

Start by wrapping around your hand a few times then scrunch it up  in your hand and start wrapping the yarn around it.

Creating a ball!

Keep wrapping until it it 4-5 inches then tuck the loose end in somewhere!

It should be the size of your palm, remember it will shrink when we felt it!

Then place the ball in the end of the panty hose and tie a string around it like so!

Now wash and dry it! Set your washer at the hottest heat possible I added a pot of boiling water to mine because it doesn't get that hot! After drying take your dryer balls out and see that they are felted!

Now throw one...or three in with your clothes and see how fast they dry now!

As you can see mine dried within 12 minutes!

Happy Saving!
